Question about Clear Coating...?

I've painted a little 90 S-10 pickup and everything turned out fine until I tried to buff the clear coat. Now the surface area I buffed is covered in a thick white haze that won't wash off. It looks great wet, but I can't keep it sprayed down all the time. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Thanks for any advice
