Is this a Virus?

I was playing a fullscreen game a few minutes ago, and everytime i typed it would minimize the game. after i gave up and exited out the problem persisted everytime i would press certain keys (e and w for example) theywould open up different programs in the computer. When i tried to do a virus check, all of my protection systems started to close out saying that i got an error message saying it was protecting me from a potential virus. does anyone know what is wrong. sorry for typos im trying to type quickly in case it starts again.
