You sound like an intelligent guy who plans for the future. Why not pursue option (2) knowing that option (1) is your back-up plan. As for the damage to your moral regarding law, don't you get the impression that the most successful, pionate lawyers are angry about something and they want to change it? They channel their angry energy into their work. Don't be so hard on yourself. All straight guys I know sometimes get in a fight. Just challenge the guy to scrap off campus after school. You sound like a balanced guy who has brains and ambitions but is not a nerd either.
